About Us

The mission and purpose of the Education Department of the Greater New York Conference is to provide a Christ-centered education, guiding students to academic and life-long success that is centered on building a relationship with God and shaping a character transformed into the image of God.

Education Ministries

1Upward in Christ
  • Establish an active REACH program in our schools.
  • Create a database of student performance from MAP tests and state tests; analyze and develop strategies for improvement.
  • Create STEAM programs in schools and train faculty.
  • Participate in Spelling Bees, Science Fairs, EXPO, Leadership and Mentorship programs.
  • Create a group of professionals from various churches to mentor and guide students.
  • Establish career days and internship programs.
  • Establish Junior Honor Society for K-8; continue National Honor Society for academy.
  • Present quarterly Honors certificate awards in all schools.
  • Provide professional development courses for all teachers each August.
  • Increase Conference-paid teachers to offer better benefits and reduce financial burden.
2Inward in Connection
  • Provide Bibles for every student.
  • Implement Special Religious Emphasis Time Blocks: Fall Week of Prayer, Spring Week of Prayer, Health Emphasis Week, Spirit of Prophecy Emphasis Week, Evangelism Week, Pastor Appreciation Month.
  • Encourage yearly baccalaureate service during the divine worship hour.
  • Enhance relationships between school board members and school staff.
3Outward in Commission
  • Encourage pastors to be more active in their district school.
  • Brainstorm ways for all school-age church members to attend GNYC schools.
  • Promote our schools in all GNYC churches.
  • Ensure all principals and teachers meet NAD requirements for Minister of Teaching credentials.
  • Identify potential donors and pursue fundraising opportunities to increase scholarships.
  • Encourage each school to conduct an annual alumni meeting.
4Forward in Completion
  • Ensure compliance with NAD, Union, GNYC, and New York State building code and fire-safety requirements.
  • Develop fundraising initiatives for Corporation-approved capital improvements.
  • Annually review safety plans; implement a Zero Tolerance policy.
  • Meet NAD accreditation standards and conduct regular school evaluations.
  • Ensure teacher compliance with NAD certification standards.
  • Conduct principal and teacher evaluations to maintain quality control.
  • Establish an ESL Institute for constituent members.
